• Gear up for July’s Camp NaNoWriMo! If you haven’t heard of Camp, it’s a month-long writing challenge like NaNoWriMo that takes place in both April and July. But you know what makes Camp extra special?
• You’re the one running the show. You can set your own word-count goal and take on any writing challenge, novel or not. But you won’t be on your own – you’ll be writing alongside thousands of writers cheering each other on! Plus, we’ll be sharing resources, advice from published authors, and community events throughout the month.

How to set your official Camp goal:

• You have two options for an official Camp goal: you can set a goal for a brand new project, or add a new goal to a project you’ve already started. It just depends on what you want to work on! To get started, just click one of the “Join” buttons on the Camp NaNoWriMo challenge invitation on your dashboard.
• Camp NaNoWriMo starts in 30 days, 11 hours, 18
• minutes, and 7 seconds! Join the official challenge and set your own writing goal for the month. Get community support,

• If you join the Camp challenge, you can begin tracking your writing progress on July 1st, and have until the final day of the month to reach your word-count goal. If you reach your goal, you’ll get exclusive digital badges, a printable certificate, discounts and goodies from our sponsors, and an extra leaf on your writing streak laurel.

Set yourself up for a great writing month!

• ⏱️ Decide on a Goal – Right now, our site only supports word-count goals. If you want to track another kind of goal, such as time or pages, here’s a conversion chart with some guidelines on how to set a goal that works you.
• ✍🏽 Join a Writing Group – Looking for a writing group to keep you accountable? You can join a group of 3 – 20 writers to share your progress, encouragement, and resources as you write. Start a writing group of your own, or find a writing group to join in the forums. (You can join as many groups as you’d like!)
• 📅 Join an Event – Participate in upcoming events, such as virtual write-ins, community hangouts, yoga for writers, and more! View our schedule of upcoming events here.
• 🥾 Choose a Track – Planning a writing project, finishing a novel, revising, world-building, memoir… check out our Camp NaNoWriMo Tracks for in-depth writing resources on specific topics!

Independent goals

• If you want to set an independent goal instead of an official Camp goal (for example, if you know you’ll want to work on your project for longer than a month), that’s great! Instead of accepting the official challenge from the Camp NaNoWriMo banner, just set an independent goal using the “Challenge Yourself” box on your Dashboard. You can choose whatever word-count goal and timeline will work for you, and write alongside the rest of the Camp NaNoWriMo community at your own pace.
