Synopsis
Pale and trembling, Angela slams down the receiver, cutting off the unknown blackmailer. Her knuckles whiten as she grips the phone, whispering, “Oh God, please let this be a nightmare.” But the fear is accurate, and so are the words that haunt her:
“I know what you did with Cassie. I know you hid the body.”
How does this caller know so much? Her name, her secrets, even her number? Dazed, Angela stumbles to the kitchen, her mind reeling. As she drinks a glass of water, she glances at the peaceful sunset, but the serene beauty only deepens her dread.
“Please, God, help me,” she prays, her eyes drifting to a portrait of her late mother. The loss is still fresh, the pain raw.
She wishes her mother were here to guide her through this. But how could she turn to her father, a man whose own secrets cast long shadows?
